The #1 Thing You Need to Know Before You Can Become Ultra-Successful in Online Marketing

Hello all..

I have a question. And some advice for those of you refusing to believe that YOU are the most important part of what makes you successful in this business.

My question: What’s YOUR unique offer?

Do you have one, or are you just one of those “generic affiliate link” marketers?

In order to be very successful in this business you need to determine what it is that you can offer that is of significant value, and is unique. If your prospect is looking at your link or website and is considering joining you – what they’ll be asking themselves first is “why should I join YOU??” So… why should they join you? And don’t tell me it’s because your business opp. is the best. Your prospects don’t care about that yet. They want to know what it is that you’re going to do that can help them… what value can you provide to them as their sponsor. “Blind recruiting” doesn’t work anymore for long term success.

Think of it sort of like a job interview that your prospects are giving you. You are essentially applying for the job of being their sponsor, aren’t you?

Oh, and I’m not talking about what products you can sell them, or what great eBooks you’ve got.. Everybody has that stuff. Everybody has “the best” products, or “the best” opportunity. Who cares.

I’m talking about YOU. What do YOU have?

For some people it’s great leadership abilities. Some can motivate really well. Some people are good at generating traffic and leads. Some do webinars and training videos. Some create good solid content on their blogs. Some can create great ad copy. Some just have good life experiences to share. Some are good hand-holders. Some can do great graphics, or can write code, or make good capture pages. And some are a combination of the above, plus more..

It doesn’t matter if it’s related to business or networking, it can just be a part of your personality that you can project. Everybody has something.

Me? Well let’s see.. I can write programs and create software that can do pretty much anything. I can kill with ad copy and create quality well-written content any day of the week. I can get through to people with how I train them. I am easy going and people seem to relate to me well. I am genuinely concerned with other people’s success, but only as long as they’re respectful of me. I am a big-time perfectionist. I know this crazy business like the back of my hand and my experience weighs heavily in the advice I give to people…

I’m not blowing my own horn here, this is just stuff that I thought of now as I’m writing this, but I do know what I’m good at and I’m still learning..

So..

What’s YOUR unique offer? What do you bring to the table?

To be ultra successful, you have to FIND it. Find it, and focus on it. Smear it and your personality over everything you create online. Put it in your marketing, put it in how you write your blogs and make your videos, make it part of your writing style, make it a giant part of your online presence. Once you can do that, you will begin to attract the “right” people for your business. And when you start attracting the right people to your business, you will see what success is.

So.. have you found it yet?

Have a great day.

  1. OMG Geoff what a great post.

I been teaching this to my students as far as I can remember.

Sell you and people will follow.

I sell my knowledge and give tons of value to my students.

I never sell the opportunity but selling you gains trust and credibility and that’s a big part of creating that bond and friendship.

I will be sharing this post with all my students.

    Thanks Geoff

    • Thanks Craig.

I’ve always used the “sell yourself, then recommend” recruiting model.

“Sell you and people will follow.” is true, but more importantly it’s that the “right” people will follow.

  2. I agree with you, Geoff – you “ARE” all that! lol (toot – toot). Most everyone can take stock of what you have mentioned here. Others will continue, blindly.

  3. Wow Geoff! That’s something I had not really considered before. But I will do a little self-examination to determine just what it is that I have to offer. Then, as you said above, I’ll smear it over everything I do online.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

  4. Geoff,

You are 100% on the mark here. everyone has a USP (unique selling position) but many have not discovered exactly what theirs may be yet.

There are several great groups marketing global NPN using one marketing model or another. This can be a good place for the newer person to start. The person using anyone’s marketing funnel other than their own must be developing their UPS in conjunction with these systems in order to have the long term success you speak of.

    Great post Geoff, as always.

    • Allen,

The group thing is always a good place to start as long as you’re learning from the group, and not just following.

Nothing wrong with promoting a group, but if you promote yourself first (then the group), you’ll find it a lot easier to transition away from the group to start building your own deal.

Otherwise you’re kinda stuck with whatever the group does, which IMO is not good as it can suck the life out of your business.

  5. I enjoyed reading that, with one problem! That was on my todo list last january, and I still havn’t got round to it. Creating and projecting a genuine persona…. is as you say vital, presenting yourself as some one who can genuinely help!

  6. Excellent post, Geoff, as always. But this one really hits the spot……
people follow people… you will attract the kind of people you are, is my experience.

So if you are a positive, easily teachable, stick at it, determined kind of individual then you will find that some of the same kind of person will come into your business.

It is all about “value” and supporting people until they can support themselves.

We have a great opportunity in NPN….. if we are not successful it isn’t the programme.. it is US!…..

    Have a great weekend everyone

  7. Hi Geoff,

You right, we must offer something of value to our prospects. Team recruiting remains the best options and I have added some value to team recruiting. I have put in place a system that:

1.Reward my members to recruit for the team benefits.
    2. Members will be able to email their downline making them virtually a team leader.
    3. I show them how to finance their NPN subscription in the short term.
    4. And we build their NPN downline.

That’s good but still I look more ahead. I want to teach the team internet marketing strategies and I want to start (already in process) an ad coop that generates many hits to the site.

    Cheers

  8. Yes Geoff, that’s right. And by this way: thank you for all your efforts to support us. Not all network marketing companies are doing this. But i think, this is very important, especially for newcomers in this industry. And also for a good team spirit.

  10. Hi Geoff, sorry but I’m going to be a bit of a downer here but, I’ve been with your program for 5 months and I’ve been unable to recruit anyone. I’ve done the TE’s, list exchanges gmail contacts and whatever venue that advertises that I know of to do so. I’ve done my own personal relational email marketing plus the banner ads that some sites ask for. I can’t go on without some assurance that something will happen. I get so frustrated that
I just stop sometimes and ponder if this is for me. I worked in advertising with a small community newspaper for 20 years, so I know what it takes to some degree to what it takes sometimes, but I see others in your program with tons of signups, and yet …….. is there a better method than what I’ve been doing?

    • Hi Doug. Are you a member of one of the various teams who are building together or are you attempting to go it alone? Do you regularly visit the forum (lots of great info on growing your business)? Have you considered using ecertificates? Are you in touch with your upline? I would suggest using all of these methods because Network marketing is a game of numbers and sooner or later you will begin to get recruits as well. And one last thing, try safelists. I hope this is of some benefit to you.
