Why People Stop Opening Your Emails

Hi..

“Why people stop opening, reading, and clicking on your emails.”

Here’s the scenario..

You start building your list, running solo ads, generating leads through whatever type of advertising you’re doing.

People are opening your emails and clicking on your links etc..

For a while..

Then things start to change.

With each campaign you send out to your leads, less and less of your leads are opening your emails and even less are clicking on the links inside your emails.

You start to panic and it becomes a bit of a desperate situation.

So.. what’s going on?

Why are they not opening?

Why are they not clicking anymore?

When it comes down to it, there are 2 main reasons why people stop reading your emails.

  1. They simply aren’t interested in what you’re sending them.
  2. You’re confusing them with “no focus” emails.

#1 is fairly obvious and there’s not much you can do about it. Some of your subscribers will just stop being interested in what you’re sending.. for whatever reason.

#2 is a little more involved. This happens when you start sending emails that have different subjects (different content focus), or are blatant marketing pitches for different products or opportunities.

When your subscriber signed up to your list, they signed up (I’m assuming) to get some specific information from you – because they are interested in that type of information.

A big part of email marketing is branding yourself and making sure your subscribers know it’s an email from YOU. If your emails are “all over the place” as far as content goes, you’re going to confuse your subscribers.

In fact, to them, all your emails will look like they’re being sent by different people.. and I’m sure they get enough emails throughout the day from different marketers.

You want to stand out – not blend in.

Find your voice, find your style, show your focus, and you will build a list of subscribers that will open, read, and click on all your emails.

Stay on track, respect your reader, stop changing gears so quickly.

Once you start doing that, you’ll start seeing more engagement and (most importantly in sales) trust.

Did I Wake You?

Dearest list subscribers,

So after the email I sent out yesterday, I got tons of very interesting, and sometimes hilarious, responses.

I got everything from threats and confusion, to praise and respect.

I also got plenty of unsubscribes, which is awesome! (Unsubscribes make me more money)

It’s funny, when you threaten to exclude people from your communication, they can get quite offended…

… even if you’ve NEVER heard from them before, or have no clue as to how they got on your list in the first place.

What I wanted to do was get people’s attention, and kind of wake people up to make sure they’re still listening.

..And it worked as it should have.

Remember, you should always be learning from what other successful people do in their marketing, and particularly the results that they get with their marketing.

Marketing is not personal, but many people take it personally, and they shouldn’t.

I’m not afraid to deal with any backlash from an offended subscriber, and neither should you..

.. as long as it leads to more engagement with my list, which it always absolutely does, and that is what you should be shooting for.

Make sense?

Not everybody does this, but they should.

Case in point, I saw someone on Facebook yesterday bragging about the fact that they got 46 opens and 22 clicks from their campaign.

.. however that was from a list of over 8000 subscribers. Obviously, that’s nothing to brag about.

Plus, having such a low open rate means that you will get penalized by the ISPs for having such a low open rate, and even less of your emails will get delivered in the future.

In other words, being an irresponsible email marketer will hurt you in the short term and in the long run.

So wake up your list and get them engaged!

The more people hate you, the more money you’ll make.

There’s this…

“The more people hate you, the more money you’ll make.”

True?

Well, kinda.

Let me explain WHY this is true.

Here’s what I’m talking about..

You’re an email marketer, or you are learning how to sell via email.

But..

You realize that there is massive competition in email marketing.. or at least there appears to be.

So if there’s so many people trying to sell through email, how does anyone make any money? And why do THOSE specific people make ALL the money?

Well, email marketing is full of people that aren’t competitive, or at least aren’t competitive enough to make a difference.

There aren’t many people willing to take a strong enough stand to make themselves cut through all the noise that’s already out there.

And they stay broke.

So how do you stand out?

You HAVE to make people angry.

You have to p!ss people off so much that they are DRIVEN to reply to your emails and tell you how much they disagree with you.

Why?

If you take a strong enough stand on something, people will either love what you’re saying, or hate what you’re saying (hopefully both).

The people that love what you say, will respect you, will follow you, will watch for your next email, and will buy from you, and will become a long term customer.

The people that hate you… who cares?

The good outweighs the bad.

Put it this way:

Middle of the road marketing doesn’t work.

If you try to please everyone, nobody will care what you say on either side… and that’s the “noise” of the hundreds of emails you get every day (that nobody reads).

I get “hate mail” all the time in my email. I love it. I love it because it means I’ve struck a chord and the ones that agree with me are buying what I’m selling…

..and the ones that don’t agree are sending me whiny boo-hoo emails that they think are going to get to me. However they’re pretty damn entertaining sometimes.

So when I say “The more people hate you, the more money you’ll make.”, you know where I’m coming from.

Now wait a minute.. I’m NOT saying be rude just for the sake of being rude. There are ways to do this without offending anyone, yet still being powerful enough to get people to open and read every time.

It’s a skill you need to learn.

In fact, a while back I spent a couple hours doing a webinar on this exact subject.

It’s in your GlobalNPN backoffice along with all the other awesome Executive training webinar recordings.

Be un-ignorable.

Tell ’em how it is.

Make them angry.

Divide the masses.

If 1 person “hates” you, 5 people will love you.

Stop caring what other people think of you.

Not only will you get followers, you’ll get CUSTOMERS.

And isn’t that what everyone’s trying to do?

Let me know in the comments if  you agree, or have other ideas..

Just DECIDE to Do It

Hey,

“There’s no middle-class in internet marketing.”

Why doesn’t everyone make a lot of money online?

I mean there really is a drastic difference between earning a “job replacement” online income, and making a few bucks.

There are people that occasionally earn a few bucks here and there, and then there are people that have completely replaced their regular “job income” (and sometimes a lot more) with what they earn online.

Why is that?

What is stopping EVERYBODY from making a lot money online, and not just a select few?

Well, here’s how I see it..

At one end of the spectrum you have the people that will never make any considerable amount of money, and at the other end are the people that will make as much as they want, whenever they want.

The difference is not how skilled they are at marketing, or even their amount of experience.

The difference (that I can tell) is that the big money earners have absolutely NO FEAR when it comes to building a business, making sales, getting new business, and making as much money as they want. They just go and do it, no questions asked.

.. while the rest are content to just talk about success, think about success, dream about success, but not REALLY want to have that success – or have to deal with that success.

make-a-decision

“What if I actually make some sales?”

“What if I have to communicate with more people?”

“What do I do with the money I earn?”

.. and then if they do see some kind of success they shy away from it and lose that success to their own fear of owning it.

So..

Which one are you?

Which one do you WANT to be?

.. really, think about it.

Which one do you think you CAN be?

What are you going to do about it?

Sometimes you have to leave your fears behind and jump in head first.

Set a goal, then go accomplish it.

Put your blinders on and don’t stop until you do.

Make some enemies along the way (it’s okay).

In fact it’s good to piss some people off while on the journey because it means you’re focused on what you want, and you’re willing to push the negativity out of the way and not dwell on it.

Just DECIDE to do it.

.. or stay where you are.

Up to you what you want.

How to Add Menus to your NPN Architect Pages

Hey NPN’ers,

Just a quick note that I have added the ability to easily create navigation menus within your NPN Architect editor.

So.. if you want to make mini-sites or just easily link your pages together..

You can set up a menu (or any number of menus) that you can insert into any of your NPN Architect pages.

It’s pretty handy when you need a “terms / privacy policy / support” type of a menu that you’ll use on multiple pages.

The nav menus are located here at the top of your NPN Architect Dashboard:

navmenu

After you setup your menus, you can access them by adding a navigation menu to your pages.

(Drag the “Navigation” icon onto your page):

navigationlink

Then you can edit the appearance of the menu element just like any other element on your page (click the “gear” icon and edit).

That’s all for today.

Please comment and “LIKE” this page – or share if you feel so inclined..
